Shakti Dance was created from Kundalini Yoga by Sara Olivier, with the blessing of Yogi Bhajan. It is a flowing movement practice that infuses dance with the awareness of yoga. Energetically, Shakti Dance cleanses the pranic body to free the soul impulse, and physically it improves alignment, flexibility, grace and circulation.
Shakti is all manifest creation and is the polarity of Shiva, pure potentiality. Shakti is characterised as the Divine feminine energy and is consciousness in motion. She is not a specific goddess but is the feminine force of creativity inherent in us all and in all life forms. By exploring the nature of Shakti in this practice, we embrace the vibratory reality of the cosmos. The whole cosmos is vibrating and pulsing, and when we experience this truth in ourselves, we are delivered back to the absolute stillness of Shiva. Through repetitive movements we comb the distracted energy of our electromagnetic fields into coherent energy flows and achieve a more harmonious state of body and mind. This leads us to peacefulness.
